Robinson was one of the last major league players to play without any type of glove. A slick fielding ambidextrous infielder, Robinson was famous for scooping up grounders and firing to first with either hand based on the direction he travelled to field the ball. A light hitter but highly valued defender, Robinson played in four World Championship Series.
"One of the best of the ambidextrous players was old Yank Robinson, of the St. Louis Browns, who could use his left as well as his right with equal accuracy in throwing." - from Sporting Life, August 22, 1896
