Hallahan was the ace of the Cardinals’ pitching staff until the emergence of Dizzy Dean. A wild-throwing fireballer, Hallahan three times led the NL in walks, while setting the pace for strikeouts in two seasons. The NL’s starter in the inaugural All Star Game in 1933, Hallahan walked five batters in three innings and was the game’s losing pitcher.
