The legacy of immortal Hall of Fame 1st baseman Henry Louis Gehrig will forever be imbedded in the minds and hearts of every baseball purist. Unfortunately, his iconic status goes far beyond his incomparable hitting achievements, with Gehrig being the most prolific run producer in major league history. True, a handful of players totaled more lifetime R.B.I.’s, but nobody produced the unfathomable annual figures such as Gehrig including 13 consecutive seasons of 100 or more R.B.I.’s with seven of those seasons in excess of 150! Yet, for all of his statistical marvels, he will forever be best remembered for both his iconic 2,130 consecutive games played as well as his hallowed “Luckiest man on the face of the earth” speech at Yankee Stadium resulting from the tragic ALS disease that abruptly ended his remarkable career and eventually claimed his life two years later. Arguably, one of Gehrig’s most treasured cardboard heirlooms is his 1933 Goudey specimen, and this outstanding PSA 7 near mint offering would make a fine addition to any esteemed “Iron Horse” gathering. . A virtually immaculate reverse side is the final compliment to a card that actually presents better than its technical assessment. Nevertheless, most would agree that any near mint 1933 Goudey Gehrig artifact is more than sufficient as a secure collectible in any esteemed collection!
