Before assuming his notable role as captain of the Brooklyn Dodgers, 1st baseman Dolph Camilli played with both the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies. However, it was with the Dodgers that the two time all-star reached his peak, with the popular Dodger captain winning the 1941 MVP when he led the NL in home runs (34) and runs batted in (120). He was such a die-hard Dodger that his career ended when he was traded to the rival NY Giants in 1943 and refused to report to the Giants.
