To quote an old time Pirates fan, “Waner could flat out hit.” “Little Poison” hit .309 or better in 10 of his 13 seasons in Pittsburgh. Majeski was considered the A.L.’s top third baseman from 1947-1951. A slick fielder and reliable hitter, Majeski set an ML record in 1948 by belting six doubles in a doubleheader.
