One of the most dominant fullbacks in NFL history, Johnson was overshadowed by Jim Taylor and Jim Brown during his playing days, but no one in the league ever overlooked the massive runner. “He was a wild man, legs and arms and elbows and knees going every which way when he was running,” Hall of Famer and former teammate Joe Perry dquipped in 2006 interview. “And John was tenacious at all times. If you wanted to [label] him, you would say he was one of the meanest SOBs that got on the football field.”
