If you surveyed a myriad of football historians, most would concede that legendary Cleveland Brown’s running back Jim Brown was the greatest player in NFL history to ever carry a football. Red Grange, Bronco Nagurski, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, etc.; name them all and virtually all enthusiasts would concur, NONE were as good as the immortal Jim Brown. The finest at his position, Brown was virtually unstoppable, even with the best defenses keying on him for 60 minutes every Sunday afternoon. It is for this reason that avid football card hobbyists actively pursue his high-grade cards, with NONE more desirable than his inaugural 1958 Topps rookie issue. Presented here is Jim Brown’s highly coveted 1958 Topps rookie card in a spectacular PSA 8 holder, with a meager 7 PSA specimens graded higher! This Jim Brown masterpiece appears virtually pristine starting with a flawless and classic running style image of the iconic star. Encompassed in an oval setting, the outlaying black background exhibits fine centering, with only a trace of favoritism towards the lower left edges between four super clean borders. Sharp corners are consistent with the technical assessment, no obtrusive surface flaws are evident, and the superb verso completes this magnificent 70-year old marvel. Considering over 2,100 examples have been handled by PSA, the fact that only eight specimens have achieved a higher grade speaks for itself. What could be more rewarding than owning a high-grade inaugural card of pro-football’s greatest running back ever, with this Jim Brown heirloom awaiting a new home in one of the hobby’s esteemed football card compilations.
