Following the 1961 baseball season, with Roger Maris eclipsing Babe Ruth’s single season record for home runs, America was clamoring for its National Pastime at levels previously unseen. Marketers capitalized on the game’s popularity with a variety of offerings to entice youngsters into persuading, and often nagging, moms into purchasing products with baseball premiums inside. The parent company of Salad Tea and Junket Pudding (actually a custard), decided to jump into baseball mania with their baseball coin offering in 1962.

The core set of Salada Tea and Junket Pudding and Sherbet Mix coins includes subjects from both the National and American Leagues, with several extremely hard to obtain variations, Filled with Hall of Famers, including Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Banks and other greats of the period.

Includes The Prized Ed Bailey White Button Variation

This outstanding set also holds the most valuable of all Salada/Junket issues, the Ed Bailey white button variation. This coin recently skyrocketed in value, with one example selling last year for $3,000 . . . a price previously unthinkable for any Salada coin. The Bailey offered here has been encased in a protective numismatic holder for ages and should grade at or near the top of the grading scale, helping to assure maximum return on your investment. As one expert, who reviewed the coin quipped, “Getting this Bailey is akin to buying a lottery ticket when you already know the winning numbers.”

Plus, Get The Ed Bressoud (Broussard) Error Coin

In addition to the Bailey white button variation coin, this truly complete Salada / Junket Coin set comes with perhaps the hardest to find variation of all Salada/Junket examples, the Ed Bressoud (Broussard) error coin. The misspelling of Bressoud’s name was found very early in the production run, when the set was first being released, so a corrected version of the coin was quickly put into circulation with the remaining Broussard error coins presumably destroyed.

The Perfect Way To Begin The 2018 Baseball Season

Rarely do complete, high-grade examples of these coin sets find their way to market, making this Salada / Junket find a perfect way to kick off the 2018 baseball season and reinvigorate your love of baseball and collecting.

With this set’s multiple variations and virtually untouched appearance, we would recommend having this entire offering graded. The difference in value could be significant and you could possibly have the highest graded Salada / Junket collection listed on the Set Registry, depending on how grading goes.
