In 1969, the Transogram Company issued toy plastic statues of baseball players in small boxes, with 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” cards placed within dotted lines on the front of the box. Extremely popular with collectors, as is the case with nearly every 1960’s issue, the sets most desirable and valuable subject is the immortal Mickey Mantle, with his hand-cut card presented here in a remarkable PSA 8 holder. s advanced collectors surely realize, one of the down-falls of “hand-cut” cards is the fact that many of the cuts impeded the dotted line frames, resulting in many “Authentic” technical assessments. As you can clearly see, the cut on this remarkable keepsake is near-perfect, with all of the dotted lines still visible. The Mantle central image is virtually immaculate, providing rich hues, a bold Yankee cap and incredible contrast. The bold red “MICKEY MANTLE” print beneath his hallowed pose is impeccable, as well as the jet-black personal information text.
