Maris captivated the nation in 1961 when he blasted past Babe Ruth’s single season homerun record. The four-time all-star was a steady player and clutch performer for his entire career. But after 1962, he would never again hit as many as 30 homeruns nor drive in 75. But he still played in three more World Series. This amazing card captures a moment frozen in time, when every kid outside of Boston wanted to be a Yankee. The borders and corners are amazing, the colors bold and if you could “crack the case” chances are you’d smell that wonderful, usually stale, pink bubble gum that came inside every pack of cards.
