Uecker is one of baseball’s greatest characters ever. In the 1964 World Series, Mickey Mantle’s batting practice homeruns were serving as a mortar barrage on the brass band playing in the outfield stands in St. Louis Sportsman’s Park. Ever the joker, Uecker jumped into the stands, grabbed the tuba player’s tuba and proceeded to catch Mantles blasts with the giant horn. The following day, Cardinal management called Uecker into the front office and made him buy a new tuba for a now furious tuba player who had to play the entire game with a rather dented horn. We miss guys like Bob Uecker! Super solid rookie card with great colors, great borders, great edges and one great character in the lower right corner!
