Rose was Cincinnati’s hometown guy. A guy with limited ability who made the most of everything he had. “Charlie Hustle” was the blue collar, working man’s hero. Rose was the guy who defied the odds, who overcame everything and gave every Joe Lunchbucket the chance to think “that could be me.” And for kids, if you were a little slow, a little pudgy, a little short, or had a little less talent that the guy who was supposed to make it, Rose provided hope that, with work and drive, the underdog could make it to the next level. And make it big!
