One of baseball’s greatest moments ever was when Enos “Country” Slaughter dashed from first base to home on Harry Walker’s 8th inning single to score the go-ahead and eventual winning run in game 7 of the 1946 World Series against Boston. One of the all-time St. Louis cardinal greats, he achieved a .300 lifetime batting average and was voted to play on 10 different all-star teams. Synonymous with his elite playing prowess is this breathtaking 1957 Topps PSA Mint 9 representation of the Cooperstown inductee, portrayed in his new Yankee pinstripes. The outfielder never looked better than in this extraordinary offering that has not been bested by a single 1957 Topps example! Remarkable image quality defines this “rare for the grade” marvel as Slaughter prepares to stroke another one of his line drive safeties. A well centered illustration, bright white borders, razor sharp corners and gleaming surfaces all combine to justify the pinnacle grade that is seldom coupled with a 60 year-old cardboard artifact!
