Just look at Hodges on this card. It’s clear from the image, this is a “character guy.” Not as in “what a character,” but rather a stand up and be counted guy. Hodges was the stoic quiet type who led by example. His steady influence anchored the Dodgers and later steadied the Miracle Mets on their way to the 1969 World Series title. If for no other reason, this card belongs in your collection as a tribute to all of Flatbush, because the westward migration was only a year away when this card was printed. After 1957, no baseball card would ever hold a new image of a Brooklyn Dodger.
