One of the most prestigious baseball cards ever produced were the Cracker Jack cardboard relics included in the caramel candy boxes in 1914 and 1915. Loaded with many of our National Pastime’s Cooperstown inductees, one of those prestigious Hall of Famers, legendary Senators owner Clark Griffith, is presented here in an outstanding PSA 8 holder. Currently, only four other examples have been graded higher! While winning 240 games over a super major league career, the “Old Fox”, as he was commonly called, was more renowned for his 20 year managerial stint with four different ball clubs as well as becoming the major owner of the Washington Nationals.
His classic Carl Horner portrait image is nothing short of sensational, set against a bold “fire engine” red background. The entire frame is well centered, enclosed by four clean white borders that exhibit only faint toning near the lower edge. Four pinpoint corners and razor sharp edges provide a fine perimeter, and the reverse side typography still retains its original bold black contrast. If you are building a superior Cracker Jack set or simply assembling high grade Hall of Famers, than you should seize this spectacular Clarke Griffith specimen that is worthy of Cooperstown itself!
