Own this card for what it represents. In 1957, Ted Williams hit .388 at age 39. Had he legged out only five more hits, he would have hit .400. No player near the age of 40 has ever had a better season. But no player was ever like Ted Williams. At least on this card, Topps had the dignity to crop the photo so as not to show the Yankee Stadium façade behind Williams. You won’t find many examples of this card in better shape. The whites vibrate, the colors are balanced and even and every corner remains sharp and true.
