Morgan destroyed International League pitchers in 1949, hitting .337. The Dodgers promptly paid $250,000 for the prized prospect and regretted the move soon thereafter. Morgan never cracked the Dodger lineup and was shipped off to Philadelphia in 1954. His career batting average was over 100 points lower than his International League high. Despite his troubles at the plate, you won’t have any trouble with Morgan’s ’52 Topps offered here. This astounding eight hits the mark at every grading point and has only been surpassed by seven other examples.
