Moving Hodges from catcher to first in order to make way for Roy Campanella was probably the most important move in Dodger history. Hodges became an anchor of the infield and Campy might have gone on to become the greatest catcher of his era if not for his paralyzing car accident. This Hodges may well be the best looking example of his ’58 Topps we have ever seen. The bold yellow background could sometimes become murky given the card stock chosen by Topps in ’58. But not here. This card stands head and shoulders above the crowd--and no Hodges examples have ever graded higher.
