No vintage baseball card could possibly entice the novice collector to begin assembling pre-WWI baseball cards more effectively than a T206 portrait Ty Cobb, portraying Carl Horner’s majestic Cobb headshot pose. This Cobb artifact is synonymous with everything baseball represents, with every aspiring enthusiast seeking to add one to their collection. With that in mind, presented here is an outstanding PSA “Authentic” specimen of Cobb’s green background T206 portrait image. Deemed authentic because of evidence of trimming, this offering still provides the breathtaking eye appeal required by elite enthusiasts, save the technical assessment. The T206 Cobb is listed as one of the card hobby’s top 250 sports cards, and no one would argue considering that Cobb will always be considered one of baseball’s greatest players ever. His representation on this spectacular artifact is virtually un-improvable! The iconic Carl Horner portrait pose provides brilliant registration and coloring, set against a perfect solid green background that is the more valuable variation of the two portrait backgrounds. Robust rosy cheeks highlight his regal image, a perfect center attraction within four snow white well centered borders. Square corners and sharp edging (possibly assisted by the assumed alteration) complete a spectacular obverse and a superb “Sweet Caporal 150 Subjects” advertisement reverse portrays bold and vivid red typography. Granted, it is PSA’s consensus the card has been moderately altered, but superseding this anomaly is the card’s absolutely breathtaking aesthetics that are synonymous with an EX-MT to NM example. Bottom line is this truly superior remnant of the incomparable “Georgia Peach” is worthy of a secure place in any advanced collection!
