Bresnahan is regarded as the first catcher to first wear shin guards in a major league game in 1907, and is also the first catcher ever to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. His T205 “Mouth Closed” SGC 60/5 example provides atypical T205 mid-grade aesthetics. Bresnahan’s stoic lithographic pose depicts bright facial colors set against a blemish free yellow backdrop. The complete picture is centered towards the right edge and the critical gold borders are robust and virtually blemish free. The corner tips reflect microscopic “specs” of chipping barely visible to the naked eye, both surfaces are atypically clean, and the reverse side biography and “Honest Long Cut” advertisement typography, while partly off-center, is bold and vivid. No advanced hobbyist should underestimate any mid-grade T205 Hall of Fame subject, worthy of a secure place in any prestigious collection.
