Mantle was in his prime, winning his second consecutive MVP, in 1957. The Mick would record his highest single season batting mark in ’57 at .365 and just barely miss hitting the ball out of Yankee Stadium, smashing a drive off of the very top of the right field façade on June 23rd against the White Sox. This coveted classic of “The Commerce Comet” delivers captivating color and rigid corners. Considering the vast opinions on grading the ’57 Topps set due to its dark coloration and heavier than normal stock, you might consider a re-grade if you purchase this card. At this level, even a half-point improvement can pay monumental dividends.
