Masterpieces and Uncommon Commons XXVIII
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on: 7/30/2010

This 1911 issue featured 25 different pins using Carl Horner images. Each pin was framed with a deep blue border containing the words, "free with Diamond Gum." The reverse of the pin reads, "Get a collection of ball player's buttons free with Diamond Gum." Decidedly more rare than the similar Sweet Caporal Pins (P2) issued during the same time period; this pin combines scarcity, star power and a high-grade. Only 34 of the Diamond Gum pins have ever been submitted to PSA for grading vs. the over 3000 Sweet Caporal pins that have been submitted. Largely overlooked due to its scarcity, this attractive pin has great potential to appreciate in value in the coming years. No doubt one of Cobb's toughest pin issues, this one is a must for the Cobb collector or type collector.
