Considered one of the top three second baseman of his era, Dunlap earned his nickname by hitting what was known as “The Shot Heard ‘Round Cleveland”. Dunlap’s 9th inning, two-out home run shot out of Kennard Street Park and became a part of Cleveland legend, as the hometown nine defeated the mighty Chicago White Stockings and star pitcher Fred Goldsmith ending the 19th Century’s longest winning streak at 21 games.
