Walsh was the pride of Chicago’s South Side. The greatest spitballer in baseball history, the workhorse pitcher had one of the game’s greatest seasons in 1908. During 1908, Walsh won 40 games, accounting for 45.5% of the White Sox wins. He pitched virtually every other day, appearing in 66 games, while pitching a mind-numbing 464 innings. Between 1904 - 1917, Big Ed would win 195 games, pitch a staggering 2,964 innings and post the lowest career ERA in history at 1.82.
