One of the most prestigious baseball cards ever produced were the Cracker Jack cardboard relics included in the caramel candy boxes in 1914 and 1915. Loaded with many of our National Pastime’s Cooperstown inductees, one of those Hall of Famers, Chicago White Sox owner Charles Comiskey, is offered here in a miraculous SGC 88/8 holder. Amazingly, this rare offering currently stands as the SOLE copy encapsulated by SGC at this lofty plateau with a SOLE example graded higher! If that doesn’t sufficiently wet your appetite, consider that PSA has not graded a single specimen at this stratospheric tier! Hall of Fame 1st baseman and owner Charles Comiskey is famous for being the founding father of the Chicago White Sox, as well as enjoying a 31 year tenure as their prestigious owner. On the field, he revolutionized the 1st base position by allowing pitchers to cover the bag on ground balls hit wide of 1st base, and he was one of the original manager’s to position fielders for different batters. Adorning his famous hat, Comiskey’s portrait image is absolutely brilliant, set against a strikingly vibrant red background, and encompassed by four ultra-clean borders. True, the centering favors the right edge, but the virtually pristine surfaces and sharp perimeter more than offset this moderate anomaly, helping to project an overall eye appeal reserved for the most esteemed collector!
