If you're building a high grade T206 set, chances are you need this outstanding copy of Chief Myers Fielding. This is the only SGC 8 graded and there is only one PSA 8 graded with none higher in the hobby. A near mint to mint card in the strictest collector's standards, this one has near perfect centering, a well focused image and a flawless emerald green background. The borders are a bright white as is the clean reverse which advertises Piedmont Cigarettes 350 Subjects. John Myers, a full blooded Cahuilla Indian, was an All Star catcher for the Giants during the time that they won three straight pennants from 1911-1913. He was also Christy Mathewson's favorite receiver. Educated at Dartmouth, Myers worked for the Department of Interior as an Indian Supervisor after retiring from baseball. He disliked his nickname of "Chief" which was given to any athlete of Indian ancestry at that time.
