The 1909 E90-1 American Caramel issue is widely renowned as the “king of the candy sets”. Loaded with Hall of Famers, one of the sets most prestigious Cooperstown inductees is the immortal Cy Young. Presented here is one of his most popular early 20th century cards, the E90-1 red background Boston portrait pose in a super eye pleasing SGC 4 holder. They named an award after the great Cy Young, and this candy card of the legendary right hander, likewise, certainly merits an award for aesthetic appeal. Cy Young established the benchmark for all other pitchers to chase, with his 511 lifetime wins an unfathomable record. This is why collectors scramble to collect his most eclectic cardboard relics, with this “E” card depiction of him, arguably, the most desirable Cy Young baseball card in existence with respect to a reasonable budget. The overall eye appeal of this hallowed Young specimen is spectacular, with the famous Carl Horner portrait image providing robust colored hues, set against an almost flawless and vibrant fire engine red background that projects the bold red “B.A. letters affixed to his uniform. No advanced collection should exist without this exalted Young memento as one of its main attractions!
