Evers was coming off an MVP performance in 1914 for helping lead the “Miracle Braves” to an unlikely and stunning defeat of Connie Mack’s high-powered Athletics. Wherever Evers went, he won. Despite is well-documented temper, Evers was quick-witted on the field and made his teammates better players. Remarkably, Evers played in four World Series between 1907 and 1914, enjoying victory in 1907, 1908 and 1914.
