The Pirates Hall of Fame outfielder and manager is rarely mentioned these days, but should never be forgotten. A slick fielder and astute manager of players, Clarke’s potent bat and ability to make adjustments during games made him one of the most valuable of all player/managers in baseball history. Clarke’s ability to juggle his lineup and never lose a beat helped Pittsburgh win its first World Championship in 1909 over Ty Cobb’s Tigers.
