Kroh only played in two games during the 1908 season, but his place is firmly cemented in baseball history. During the pivotal game between the Giants and Cubs in late September 1908, it was Kroh who got the ball to Johnny Evers on the famed Merkle Play. Kroh’s quick thinking would change the course of the season and help send the Cubs to the Series.
