No baseball card collection can be considered complete without a card of the great Ty Cobb. Still holder of the highest major league lifetime batting average (.367), Ty Cobb is arguably one of the top 5 ballplayers of all-time. Before being surpassed, Cobb was the previous owner for most lifetime hits (4,191) and stolen bases (893). What may be his most popular card ever, offered here is the famous T206 Ty Cobb portrait red background variation that has been graded a PSA 6. The historic Carl Horner portrait image portrays outstanding registration set against a vibrant deep red background. The borders that are centered relatively 50/50 top to bottom and 40/60 side to side are framed by razor sharp edging and four square corners that are consistent with the EX-MT grade. The Piedmont cigarette advertisement on the back of the card is super clean with no major blemishes. Overall, the eye appeal of this highly desirable artifact is outstanding; a 100 year relic that exhibits a myriad of “pack fresh” qualities. Bottom line is this representation of the the great Ty Cobb symbolizes early 20th century baseball and ‘turns back the clock’ to an era when the game evolved as America’s pastime. Don’t hesitate in seeking out this classic representation of the immortal “Georgia Peach”.
