Duffy replaced Billy Sunday in the Whites Sox outfield in 1888 and did nothing but hit the ball hard for the remainder of his career. In 1894, Duffy won the Triple Crown, while recording the highest single season batting average in history at .438. Later in life, as a coach with the Red Sox, Duffy was credited with helping a rookie named Ted Williams refine and perfect his swing.
