No player in major league history may have hustled harder than the tumultuous 2nd baseman Eddie Stanky who prompted Leo Durocher to state his iconic remark “Nice guys finish last”! Thinking alone of Stanky, Durocher insinuated how a less than average player could elevate his game to a non-expected level of performance and in doing so push his teammates to likewise do the same. Obviously Durocher knew what he was talking about since Stanky assisted both the Dodgers and Giants to National league pennants. Synonymous with Stanky’s winning ways is this remarkable 1955 Topps PSA Mint 9 representation of the fiery infielder that along with 2 other specimens resides as the “best of the rest”! Donning his Cardinal’s uniform in his first managerial role, every aspect of this card is consistent with perfection, a marvelous tribute to a player that always strived to perform at a peak level on the playing field. If you are seeking one of the finest 1955 Topps cards for your elite collection, you should make every effort to place the final bid on this highest graded Stank gem!
