Hooker won 21 games at Concord in 1902 and made it to the big leagues as a pitcher. Unfortunately, an arm injury derailed his career. In the minors, he would reinvent himself as an outfielder and play for another eight seasons. A tough luck player, Hooker was off to his best start, hitting .431 in 1911, when an injury ended his season after 33 games.
