Oldring was a mainstay on four A’s pennant winners beginning in 1910. Oldring hit a career best .308 in 1910. After suffering a broken leg, Rube was moved from centerfield to left, making way for Amos Strunk, one of the best defensive centerfielders of all time. The move solidified the A’s lineup and helped Connie Mack establish one of the most dominant five year runs in baseball history.
