White was a bit of a renaissance man in early baseball terms. A Georgetown-graduate with a degree in Dental Surgery, White was also a violinist, balladeer and songwriter. In 1910, the great pitcher would pair with Ring Lardner to compose the hit, “A Little Puff of Smoke Goodnight.”
