A virtually perfect image of Miner Brown greets the exhilarated eye on this featured E93 example, conservatively graded VG/EX 4 by PSA. With its near perfect centering on both surfaces, only a light caramel stain in the upper right border as well as some expected but not terribly advanced perimeter wear appear to have prevented a higher technical assessment, though there’s also a minor trace of extraneous blue ink on back. Brown of course was the cornerstone of an accomplished Chicago staff during the team’s heyday, and he still holds the record (since 1893) for lowest season ERA by a right-hander, with an incomprehensible mark of 1.04 in 1906, the season just prior to his two World Series championships with Chicago in 1907 and 1908.
