Preston Ward broke into the big leagues beside fellow Brooklyn Dodger teammates Duke Snider and Roy Campanella in 1948. He would miss two years of professional ball in 1951 and 1952, and in 1953 he was sent to the Pirates as a part of the trade that sent Ralph Kiner to the Cubs. Pictured here coming off his best year with the Bucs, Ward averaged .267 in 1954 while his teammates averaged .248. One of 6 unsurpassed MINT 9 copies on record at PSA from nearly 400 submissions.
