Finding unique baseball cards is no simple task, justifying why this spectacular “one of a kind” 1904 Noodles Hahn SGC 92/8.5 Allegheny Card Co. specimen suffices as the ONLY copy on the planet! In 1904, the Allegheny Card Co. produced a 112 card boxed set including 104 National League players and 8 team “ball counter” cards. This issue is believed to be the “sole” produced prototype, having never been distributed to the general public. Noodles Hahn was on his way to a Hall of Fame career until his arm gave out in 1905. As a rookie, he won 23 games for Cincinnati and led the league in strikeouts. He no-hit the Phillies in 1900, completed a remarkable 41 games out of 42 starts in 1901 and won 20 or more games in four of his first five seasons before an injured arm prematurely ended his career. Fortunately for Hahn, his legacy is secured in the hobby via this unique offering. His classic Carl Horner portrait image is near immaculate, depicted in blue tint and enclosed by a solid blue circle. The obverse side typography including: “Cincinnati Club, National League, Hahn, Pitcher. Player Card”, is bold and vivid, and the snow-white background is virtually flawless. The outer blue perimeter frame is well centered, and the edging and curved corners (standard corners for this prototype), are extremely sharp. As a final compliment to this incredible artifact, the reverse side “Allegheny Card Co.” advertisement, including a splendid baseball and two crossed bats image, still retains all of its original bold red print. We cannot overemphasize the unparalleled rarity of this “one of a kind” cardboard treasure that stands as the sole copy in existence!
