One of the sharper and more appealing T206 Hall of Famers you will ever encounter in the grade of EX 5 from PSA, it’s difficult to determine precisely what the California-based graders don’t like about this seemingly pack-fresh copy of Ty Cobb’s coveted T206 red portrait for higher consideration. The iconic image that dominates the front, so critical to the grade, appears sharp and clean enough to compete with even the hobby’s highest graded specimens, while all four corners show tip touches but nevertheless manage to maintain their square right angles. Flipping over to the back, the Piedmont ad mirrors the front in both resplendence and centering, showing just the mildest inclination for the top edge. If anything, the card may measure microscopically shorter than some other examples, as T206s are well known to range in size, but it is obviously still within the tolerance for PSA’s numerical grading. A noticeably high-end example for the discriminating collector.
