A dangerously sharp example of Bob Gibson’s 1959 Topps rookie card graded PSA NM 7 almost entirely due to its mild centering preference for the left and bottom borders. Don’t let the pink backdrop and big smile fool you! Gibson was one of the fiercest fireballers of the post-war period and one of the most intimidating pitchers of all time. Heck, after he posted a 1.12 ERA in 1968, the lowest ever in the live-ball period, baseball’s top brass decided to do the one thing they thought would prevent another “Year of the Pitcher.” They lowered the pitching mound a full five inches, thanks mostly to Bob.
