Working 464 innings in 1908, Ed Walsh set a Major League record for innings pitched while on his way to winning 40 games that season. In 1922 Walsh tried his hand as an American League umpire for one year. He then returned to the White Sox as a coach. Walsh was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1946 by the Veteran's Committee.
