Considering that the T206 rare ad backs craze is as hot as an uncontrollable brush fire, this amazing T206 American Beauty 350 Subjects w/Frame Christy Mathewson “Black Cap” PSA 6-OC marvel will certainly be seized by an elite T206 hobbyist. The only copy at this elevated tier, the illustrious PSA “pop” chart only indicates a sole “6.5” specimen graded higher! Any American Beauty back is a tough find considering that less than 1% of the combined SGC and PSA encapsulated T206’s include an American Beauty advertisement, let alone a high-grade example that represents one of our National Pastime’s greatest pitchers who ever toed the rubber. The immortal reverence of Christopher Mathewson will forever live in infamy with “Matty” leaving an indelible mark on our National Pastime’s glorified past. The “Big-Six” amassed a staggering 373 lifetime victories including four 30+ win seasons to go along with his incredible run of 20 straight years of tallying 20 wins or more! His godly performance in the 1905 World Series will always be considered the fall classic’s most incomprehensible feat when he tossed three shutouts against Connie Mack’s mighty Philadelphia Athletics. Possibly overshadowing his diamond achievements was his unquestionable presence as the embodiment of a National hero, with nearly every young aspiring American worshiping his exalted existence. For these reasons and so many more, his rare cardboard treasures are among the most coveted artifacts in the hobby, with this “scarce for the grade” American Beauty obscurity destined to fall into the hands of a prominent tobacco enthusiast. Deep rich colored hues highlight the immaculate looking central image, with the ”hands at chest” Matty pose arguably his most iconic illustration. Typical with all American Beauty subjects, the clean white borders are ultra thin, no glaring surface flaws are evident, and the popular “American Beauty Cigarettes 350 Subjects w/Frame ad back depicts a bold green typography. Accounting for the “OC” qualifier is the somewhat missing portion of the green frame’s left side, a hardly noticeable moderate blemish due to most of these frames virtually “hugging” the standard slim cut edges. Qualifiers notwithstanding, with only a single PSA encapsulated specimen surpassing this museum worthy offering’s technical assessment, you would be wise to jump aboard the “Big Six” express and ride this tobacco scarcity directly to the heart of your collection!
