After enjoying success in Detroit with three Tiger pennant winners, “Wabash George” was thrilled to return to his native Indiana to pitch for Indianapolis of the Federal League. Always a bit homesick and wanting to be closer to family, Mullen originally signed with Detroit instead of the Giants strictly because of the Motor City’s closer proximity to home.
