The T205 Gold Boarder Tobacco series is 2nd only to the T206 set in popularity. One of its major HOF players was Walter Johnson, an original member of the 1936 introductory HOF class of five. The “Big Train” as he was commonly called, is considered by most experts as the greatest pitcher in baseball history. His 417 lifetime victories is still a Major League 20th century modern day record (of Cy Young’s 511 wins, approximately half were complied in the 19th century). The T205 Johnson offered here has been graded an SGC 50/4 and displays outstanding central image registration. The ultra-sensitive gold boarders that frame Johnson’s portrait image show minimal wear with the Vg-Ex grade mainly attributed to slightly rounded corners and toning on the back. Considering that no Walter Johnson “E” cards were produced before 1921, early Johnson tobacco cards are high in demand. Why wait any longer for a very desirable Walter Johnson 20th century gem!
