Stobbs is best remembered as the pitcher who gave up Mickey Mantle’s memorable, mammoth 565 ft. homerun that cleared Washington’s old Griffith Stadium. A decent pitcher who fell on hard times, in 1956, Stobbs became the first Senator to lose 20 games since 1916. Of course the pitcher who lost 20 in 1916, also won 25. His name was Walter Johnson. Great card of Stobbs with dazzling red background and borders as white as wedding china.
