Nicholson was a legendary power hitter during the war years, leading the NL in homers in ’43 and ’44. Bill came closer than any other player in history to hitting the Wrigley Field scoreboard. Ironically for a power hitter, Nicholson was virtually impossible to double up, hitting into double plays only once in very 90.7 at bats! This card from the end of his career with the Phillies is an outstanding eight receiving high marks at all the key grading points.
