Walter Johnson and Christy Mathewson will never have to worry about Pirates pitcher Forrest Main surpassing their legacy; however, Main’s 1953 Topps PSA 8.5 gem presented here can easily compete with any card ever manufactured for these two legendary pitchers. PSA current population report indicates that almost 270 examples have been encapsulated with only one other one at this level, and a mere 2 graded higher! A spectacular portrait pose of the Pirate hurler is vividly registered and framed by four super clean, perfectly centered borders! Four sharply squared corners and straight edging provide the final compliments to a museum quality front. Both the front and back surfaces are blemish free, and the back print registration is perfect. No card portraying these aesthetics could ever be considered “common”, and this Forrest Main beauty is concrete proof that any player can achieve cardboard HOF status!
